I have only really played at MR. PB but what is the best type of camouflage for this area that blends best.

Also more importantly what would you advice i buy my gear as OD, tan or black I am always debating when i buy gear because we have a Mediterranean climate so it is dense oak forests were water is and sparse vegetation everywhere else.

1) Look where you play. What colors do you see?

2) Buy gear that matches environment.

Honestly when you're shooting people 100 feet away from you, camo isn't of real use. As long as it's comfortable and looks subdued, I just use what I think looks cool.

From my experiences, I have found that the faded surplus Flecktarn blends in nicely with the backfields of Mr. PB. However, if you buy new Flecktarn, it will have really dark greens and is more useful for the field Congo rather than the backfields.

When I got deployed with the Marines during OIF 1, I said to myeslf, "wow, this MARPAT really does blend in pretty well (to a point)." Likewise, in Afghanistan.

During the Dust Wars, As I was creaping around the brush a gentleman who was wearing his full-on Multicam was not even fifthy feet away. I said to myself, "holy cow, that stuff really does blend in pretty well (to a point, of course)."

Like the previous gentleman said, look at your enviornment in which you wish to play, and go from there.

6 cents are now added to the forum...and I actually try not to talk to myself too much...

Can we not do the tit for tat ironic photo shopped pictures that make one look superior at others expense. The posters on here are better then that. If you want to do that, its what SoCal airsoft is for...

Where do you play? There is no "best camouflage." There's desert camo for desert climates, woodland for dense vegetation, snow for arctic, etc, etc.

Besides, camouflage is only marginally effective at airsoft ranges. Any decent camouflage pattern will do. The first thing you should look for is how "cool" it looks to you. Are you going for a US Army loadout? PMC? Your camo should follow that.

For example, say you want to do a PMC kit. You might very well choose tan pants and a black jacket. Is that the most effective camouflage? No. Does it matter? Probably not. If you like it, roll with it.

However, if you want the "official" Natick soldier center research data points, from what I remember the best in each category were as follows:

Desert-British Desert DPMs

Woodland-Chinese woodland pattern

Urban-USMC Desert Marpat

Now, Desert Marpat seems to be the most effective choice for desert/urban environments. It performed the best (to my knowledge) out of the urban patterns tested, and was a very close second to DPM in the desert. However, it is lacking in the woodland area.

If you want woodland, I think the good 'ol US Woodland pattern is very good, not to mention affordable. I doubt you will find many Chinese cammies around here.

Natick also tested Multicam, it performed well, not superbly, but well, across all environments. It did worst in the desert and best in the woodland.

===

Now, if I were to make a recommendation for "the best camoflauge" for field such as Mr. Paintball, disregarding personal tastes and team affiliations, I would say buy two sets of cammies. One in Desert (Marpat is probably best, but all desert patterns will work almost the same), one in woodland (Just wear US Woodland!). Wear the desert one in the summer when the vegetation dries up, and woodland in the winter.

If you want one pattern? I don't want to sound cliche, but Multicam works. It just does. I've seen it, used it, and it gets the job done. Not the best, but you only need one set.

That's my take anyway.

(This is about camo not vests) Ive always noticed that OD seems to work great at MrP. MrP is not desert, nor is it woodland. It has scattered woodland areas, but the space in between and under the trees is all dried up khaki/tan grass. A faded pair of ODs IMO has a perfect combination between the two. OD was the solution to a problem during WW2 and Vietnam eras, especially in the pacifc, which was that the camouflage (while very helpful in fixed positions) made movement more obvious. i believe this with most camouflages. Now, i prefer camouflage over OD because i like it. It looks cool, and it matches my modern era gear. But i DO think that OD is the best choice if you want your colors to blend.

But im going to stick with what was originally said, wear a subdued (not colorful) color and you will be fine. Keep in mind that most vegetation at MrP is chest high or above (im 5'6"). So wear ANY popular camo (they are popular for a reason!) and stay low. Im sure you will be hard to see. Also remember, do you want to fight with or against friends? This should help you decide.

You guys remind me of high school seniors beating up on the newbee freshmen because you are so desperate for the attention. Some people don't have the time nor patience to research a topic just to see if it has been previously posted.

If you keep things meaningful and resourceful, and not sarcastic, and discouraging with your blabber, perhaps this website can attract new players who may want to visit this website more often to see if there are any upcoming events, and therefore generate more interest by word of mouh, and revenue for the businesses affiliated with these operations. How's that for blabber?

last time i checked, the forum rules clearly stated, "search before you post", or something similar. Most of the time, you dont have to search. but for camo questions? If you think that you are the first person on an airsoft forum to ask these questions, you would be wrong.

Now CTF already gave the speech. This thread wouldve been fine with a simple link and reminder. But, while unnecesary for them to post sarcastic responses, we all know that we were thinking excactly that when we saw this thread.

Yes, A simple PM could have done the trick and ended this, as I could have done from the start. Yes, I can lighten up a little bit.

However, once there is an unnecessary remark, which downplays simple questions asked, and answers from people you may not even know, on an OPEN FORUM for ALL to see, people tend to deal with the remarks differently.

Sarcasm among people who KNOW each other in a forum which talks about an upcoming event, and then poking fun at each other about how bad their gear may be, for example -- is one thing.

It is another thing-- if a gentleman, whom you may NOT know, has a meaningful
question on uniforms, or what is needed to play this sport in order to
further educate his underage son for his safety and fun.

For the record; as a moderator I personally had no problem with Byram's post. It echoed what many of us here were thinking since a simple search of this forum (or any other) would have yielded several other threads on the same topic. We do encourage searching here so that the same thread doesn't pop up over and over each time a new member arrives.

If you search through other threads and they still don't quite answer your question then by all means post up a new thread. But the difference there is that now you've already read through some similar threads and you have a better idea of what you are asking and what the possible answers might be.
