Is there anyone interested in a competition that is strictly about your hand gun accuracy?

Is there anyone confident in their handgun shooting skills to test them against others?

Is there anyone willing to compete for a trophy or bragging rights about being the best handgun wielder?

I ask because myself and a good friend of mine have been mulling this idea over for about a year. If there is enough interest, this kind of competition might actually find its way to San Diego.

Here are some examples or some Airsoft IPSC shoots:

Overseas:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Mq9ceishEw
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABhkFTO4cp4

NorCal:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUNTvDL_Ylw
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAe0IR_KpwQ

We already have the course of fire designed, we just need to know if there is any interest in this kind of competition.

Quote:
Rules (currently under revision):

1. Contest will be broken into age groups:
10 - 15
16 - 20
21 - 25
26 - 30
31 - and older

2. Aiming devices will be authorized by staff only

3. Guns can only be loaded to the same capacity as commercially bought real firearm magazines:
3a. you will be required to carry multiple magazines
3b. you cannot load your airsoft magazine to full capacity
3c. you cannot use an extended magazine (i.e. Glock or M93R) and load it with the real load equivalent of bbs
3d. There is no limit of how many magazines the competitor desires to carry (recommend no less than four (4) magazines)

4. You are authorized to use the following sources of propellant to operate your gun:
4a. R134a
4b. Green gas
4c. Propane
4d. Red Gas
4e: CO2 (i.e. WE Hicapa CO2 magazines)
4d. Propellant will not be shared by competitors (unprepared competitors will be disqualified)

5. Eye protection must meet the following:
5a. ANSI Z87.1
5b. DOES NOT have to be full seal

6. There is no velocity restriction (you are not shooting at a live target)

7. Gun restrictions:
7a. MUST be a gas blow back
7b. Slide MUST lock when out of ammo
7c. Gun MUST be semi auto ONLY (no select fire guns)

8. Guns will remain empty between shooting stages:
8a. After each station, all remaining ammo will be fired into a firing bin.
8b. Ammo will be given to each contestant for loading prior to entering the shooting area.

9. Each contestant will be responsible for his/her ammo:
9a. If you fail to load the proper amount of ammo, you will lose points for each shot not fired
9b. If you fail to load the proper amount of ammo, you will have points deducted for each shot over your allowed limit

10. Weapon failures:
10a. If your weapon fails to fire per manufacture specifications, you may exchange your gun with a staff authorized replacement.
10b. If your weapon fails to fire per manufacture specifications, you may repair your gun. In this case, your name will be put as the last shooter in that current event. If you cannot repair your gun by the time your name is called, you will be given the longest time of that course of fire, plus 5 seconds (longest time, 3.3 seconds plus 5 seconds = 8.3 seconds)

Yeah, right! I hear people talk about how good they are with a pistol, but rarely do I ever see it on the field. So I dare the San Diego airsoft community to step outside their comfort zone and try something truly competitive!

In fact, if you can get enough people to play...

I'LL COMPETE USING A SPRINGER!

And if I don't come in DEAD LAST I'll personally auction off one of my own custom pistols.

HOWEVER!

If I do somehow get a better score than someone else, I get to make fun of all of you for the rest of your lives!

You cannot load your airsoft 28 round magazine to full capacity. You can only load the real world equivalent into the gun i.e. Beretta M9 15 rounds, Colt 1911A1 7 rounds.

Now, if people want to make the ground a little more even, we can follow the IPSC Limited-10 rule and allow 10 rounds per magazine.

In any case, this has not been determined yet, as the interest still has not proven itself enough to foot the cash for this kind of competition.

Regarding prizes, if we can get enough people signed up, MAYBE we can get it sponsored by some airsoft retailers or gear distributors.

And yes, the TM MEU I am working on for you will hold up just fine.

I've been informed by "The Management" that I will not be allowed to participate with a springer pistol.

:cuss:

However, if this event does happen, I will still auction off a custom pistol if I come in LAST PLACE. And just to let you know, I can't hit the side of a barn with a handgun!

^^^I just build them. I don't shoot them.

BTW, just to let you all know I'm serious about competing, I've started making my custom race gun:

Image

It will be compensated, weighted, accuratized, and completely modified for my style of shooting.

...Which is spraying the target area until I finally hit something.

Actually, I was seriously contemplating using one of these for the competition:

Now I just need to find a speed loader large enough for the shells...

Yes, there will be an entrance fee, but at this time, we are unsure of the price yet. The mroe people we get involved, the cheaper the price will be per entrant.

Update:

The only disqualifying factor now is an unprepared shooter.

If you fail to fire the course of fire, you will be given the longest shoot time of the course and 5 seconds will be added for YOUR time.

Reason, if we do not get the numbers to break down this event into divisions and are forced to group everyone together into a single tournament why not you and I build a custom gun for the first place winner?

In the event we do have separate divisions, I am already working on trophies and working to get prizes for each division.
