| This is the gun that
everyone has been waiting for, the full metal 1911 from KJW aka.
Kuan Ju Works. The 1911 is a classic when it comes to military
and law enforcement side arms. The KJW 1911 is a 1:1 replica
of the true to form 45 from Browning. I won't talk about that
today but in it's 'real' form, this gun has seen action dating back
to before the 1950's. Everybody from the U.S. Government & FBI
to mobsters and bootleggers would use one of these.
What we are going to talk about
though is the airsoft version of this gun. Not to long ago,
the plastic version of the 1911 was introduced and airsoft players
around the nation went crazy. Two of my team members went out
of there way to purchase them (I'm a Glock guy myself). The
problem that we found though, was that the balance was 'just not
right' and to ad insult to injury, at least to us, we found the
after only 20 rounds through the gun a spring that held loader in
place would 'dislodge'. This caused the gun to obviously
misfire. The plastic version of the 1911 gas blow back would
shoot hard. We never did get a chance to chrono it, but I
would speculate that it shot in the area of 300 FPS.
Well with all of the problems that
were arising, the 'craze' for the 1911 dropped off, until now.
KJW just introduced their full metal version of the famous 1911.
This gun is awesome. As I stated above, I'm a Glock guy but
after reviewing this GBB, I want one. Everything on the KJW
1911 is metal and when I say 'everything' ... I MEAN EVERYTHING.
Not only does the full metal
version solve the 'balance' problem, but it makes every shot crisp
and clean. Again, we haven't had a chance to chrono the gun
yet (patience.. we will) but I suspect that it is shooting near the
area of 300 FPS as well. The gun has multiple safety's just
like the real 1911 does. It has a rear thumb safety that needs
to be depressed in order to fire. It also has a top thumb
safety for holstering your sidearm while you have a round chambered.
The sights on the KJW 1911 are
very clear and easy to see for quick acquisition. The slide
snaps quick and clean for fast chambering. There is no
'rattle' in the grip from the magazine. The safety's, at least
at this time, seem to be stable and deliberate. This is good
so that they don't accidentally engage while in a CQB situation.
Speaking of the magazine, one
thing that I noticed about the magazine is that it has a slow
'taper' to it. This allows the bb's to 'direct' themselves to
the chamber without the 'shock' factor found on other airsoft blow
back guns. In case you don't know what I'm talking about look
at your magazine in your GBB, do the bb's continue to be 'double
stacked' all the way up to the top of the mag? That can hurt
your game in the event you are in a rapid fire situation. The
magazine in the KJW 1911 is full metal. Yes.. I said full
metal, no more worrying about breaking the tops of your gas magazine
if you accidentally slip while loading your bb's. Commonly,
you would only find a completely full metal gas blow back magazine
in a full automatic airsoft gun. The magazine holds a total of
23 bb's so figure if you chambered a round and set the safety, you
would have about the same capacity as an M92.
The only thing that I have found
(so far) to my disliking is that the trigger is a bit stiff. I
don't know if that is because it is new and eventually will 'wear
in' or if will always be that way but personally I like to have a
'softer' trigger pull. It helps in accuracy and speed. I
found that in rapid fire the all metal magazine gets cold quick and
stays cold for a little longer than I would like... BUT... we rapid
fired a full magazine 5 times in a row and it did not 'run out of
gas' (pressure) due to condensing gas.. You all know about the
gas condensing right?.. Yeah, we'll talk later. The last thing
that I didn't like was that currently there are no extra magazines
available. That's pretty obvious because it is a new gun, but
hey.. I'm picky. Especially since I host 'pistol only' games
quite frequently.
So, my final review of the KJW -
Kuan Ju Works full metal 1911 is that it is definitely worth the
wait AND the money that it is selling for, which is about $129.99.
So, grab your gun now, wear your safety glasses and have fun.
