KWC P99 Airsoft gun review
Written by Mike

The KWC P99 is one of the worst GBB (Gas Blow Back) pistols I have ever seen for a number of reasons. If you are a fan of the P99 read no further because you wont want to see what KWC did with the P99.

The first thing that I disliked that involved the instruction manual. The clip holds 16 rounds but the instructions say to only put 14 in the clip. That seems like a real waste of space to me. Staying on the topic of the clip, it took 2 ½ reloads for the clip to be cold enough to start miss-firing. KJW M9s and Glocks take upwards of three full clips to start miss-firing and they hold 25 and 20 respectively.

The second thing I disliked about the P99 was the safety. The safety is a tab that you have to pull down by the trigger. It is awkward and is something that I dislike but not a major thing. It is a personal preference thing, so take a look at the pictures when they get uploaded.

The major thing that I dislike about this gun is it is a blowback that doesn’t field strip. We did take it apart to take a look at the internals and it was a small feat. For a blowback not to be able to field strip is very stupid. For blowbacks to work effectively, they need to be cleaned an lubed every now and again and it is a major pain to strip.

When we looked at the internals of the gun, it was obvious it was very poor workmanship. The slide and the rails it rubs against are unfinished plastic, making it very hard for the slide to work properly. When we got this gun, I couldn’t fire a whole clip because the slide stuck half way through. We found numerous workmanship errors when they were trying to cut something and the roughed up the plastic or they didn’t de-burr the plastic. Also, the barrel was not held in place well enough and our P99’s barrel pointed up to much and the bb’s clipped the plastic outside barrel.

The only thing that we liked about this gun was that the clips were all metal. This one feature does not overpower all of the negatives we have already mentioned. This could have been a very promising gun but the quality that this gun was put together makes me think differently about KWC products.
