Mechanix Gloves for Airsoft use

Anyone that knows me knows that I can't stand anything on my
hands, such as gloves. So for me to wear some even for a game
such as Airsoft is a bit hard for me to do. So for a while I
didn't wear any gloves, but after a few shots to the hand I
decided it was time to try gloves, so I tried a simple pair of
fingerless gloves, but after I soon found the flaws, which
where shots to the fingers still hurt, and no warmth was
offered. Also the biggest problems with the gloves I was using
was even though they were fingerless, they did not breathe
well and my palms would get fairly sweaty which really
bothered me.
On a whim last weekend, I ended up in Oceanside at Tactical
Assault Gear, and while browsing what goods they offered I
spied a wall full of gloves. I tried on a few pairs, and from
what they had in stock, most I found bulky and didn't flex
very well, but of course this really wouldn't be much of an
issue after a bit of use. And I some of the other gloves did
not breath well, but again I would have only really found out
for sure by using each for a while and really finding out, but
since that was an option, I decided on a pair and brought them
to the counter and purchased them.
The gloves that I purchased are the Original Mechanix gloves,
stealth version, which has the black lettering on a black
glove. The gloves were purchased for $32, which I am sure I
could have gotten for less online, but I really am an instant
gratification person and won't buy something that I can't get
right away.
The first thing I did when I got to my car was to take the
gloves out the packaging and put them on. At first the gloves
seemed to be a lot tighter than the ones of the same size that
I had tried on in the store. After a bit of flexing my
fingers, I still felt uneasy about having something on my
hands, at first I felt as though I had lost my sense of touch
sensation in the tips of my fingers. All I could really do was
just try them for a while. So I proceeded to drive home, the
drive home I noticed that the grip on the steering wheel, and
stick shift was really good, I did not have any slip and just
palming the steering wheel I still did not see any slip while
driving. The entire trip was uneventful; the real test of the
gloves would be in game, which was the next day.
Once at the game I got my gear ready put everything where it
was to go, and then put the gloves on, and at first felt as if
the gloves were to tight, I ignored this and got ready to
play. Truthfully once the game started I forgot I was wearing
gloves. Though once we did our first break while I was warm
from running around, I did notice that while my palms were a
little sweaty it was nothing like the previous gloves I had
used in my previous games. For the rest of the night unless I
thought about it, I forgot I was wearing the gloves, but at
the end of night I did realize that the gloves did exactly
what they were meant to do, they protected my hands during the
game, which at one point I took a shot to the left hand. Also
it was not hard to open my pouches, or grab any mags with them
on, and they kept my hands warm.
So in conclusion you may be thinking, “Well?” Well my answer
is for the money I paid for these gloves I hope to be using
them for many games in the future, and will not use any other
gloves until these gloves far completely apart, and will
suggest their use to anyone that wants a glove that has a good
grip that breath really well.
Here are some pics we took of
the gloves.
