At 858airsoft.com we strive to be
the resource for all airsoft players. From this dedication
stems the pursuit for real world tactical gear and equipment.
Any competitive airsoft player will tell you that half of the
success of your game with be in the gear that you use. If
you have gear that is sub par, your game experience will be sub
par. In my pursuit to find real tactical gear that works
exactly the way it was designed I came across Tactical Assault
Gear in Imperial Beach, San Diego, Ca. Now I have been to
many other stores that 'claim' to have tactical assault gear, but
this store is true to its name. I decided to pay the store a
visit and see what the store had to offer. I was expecting
to find a small 'hole in the wall' store that had a few items.
What I found was a store that not only carried nearly all the
tactical gear you will ever need for the game of airsoft, but a
store that carried REAL tactical gear for the REAL WORLD.
I originally drove down to the
store on a Sunday. I had a feeling that it may be closed but
I'm an impulse buyer so I went anyway. After arriving at the
store, I found that it was closed but just by peeking through the
front door I knew that I had found the last store that I will ever
need for true to form tactical gear. I instantly knew that I
wanted to do a review on this store and I returned to the store a
couple days later. Being the 'sneaky' recon guy that I am, I
wanted to see how the store was run and set up before I told them
about my plan to review it.
Upon entering into the store I
was immediately addressed with a friendly "Hello" from the sales
clerk behind the counter. I was actually a little thrown
off, because I didn't even see her yet and at all the other stores
that I have gone to I normally get a "Yo.. what's up?" or nothing
at all. I looked around the store a little before walking
all the way into it and the first thing that I noticed was all of
the Blackhawk tactical gear. I'm not talking a few vests and
some pouches.. I'm talking nearly the entire Blackhawk product
line. So obviously Tactical Assault Gear is a Blackhawk
dealer.
In addition to all of the Blackhawk tactical gear, I noticed that
they also carried; Hatch protective gear, Under Armour, Magnum
tactical boots, Surefire flashlights, Camelbak hydrapaks, Wiley X
eyewear, TAG private label gear and an assortment of other
items. Originally what I came to purchase was a chest
mounted mag pouch but it was hard not to go overboard with all of
the selections they offered.
I looked around a little more,
intentionally trying to make them think that I was just 'browsing'
and another 'Looky Lou' customer. I was actually doing that
on purpose because I wanted to see how they would react. A
lot of other stores frown on this because I guess for some reason
they feel that you're 'wasting' their time. The sales team
at Tactical Assault Gear was very 'attentive' but not 'invading',
which made my trip that much more pleasant.
I found the items that I was
looking for and I noticed that some of the prices were 'discounted' from
what the manufacture suggested they retail at. This is a
plus because I'm always out to save a buck. I brought all of
my items to the counter and cashed out. From the time that I
walked into the store until the time that I was handed my receipt
I had nothing short of a wonderful experience inside the store.
After I finished with my purchase, I told them of my plan of
wanting to 'review' the store for the website. Honestly, I
was expecting to get thrown out of the store and charged with
spying. Nope, they gladly handed me a business card with the
owners personal email address and said they they would be happy to
allow me to review the store if the owner was okay with it.
I got home and just as I was
about to contact the owner of the store, I noticed that I had been
charged the full price on some of my items. The discounted
price was hand written so I was unsure if they would honor the
discounted price. I called the store and told them about the
discrepancy and they immediately told me that they would take care
of it. No hassles, no arguing, no convincing. That was
music to my ears to know that Tactical Assault Gear will take care
of their customers after the sale as well as during the sale.
It is hard to find companies like that these days.
So to wrap all of this up, if
you are looking for a store that has a huge selection of tactical
gear, you have to pay a visit to Tactical Assault Gear. They
have a location in Oceanside and a location in Imperial Beach.
The Imperial Beach location is the one that I visited. If
you can't make it to one of their retail locations, you can shop their store online through their website
www.tacticalassaultgear.com.
